Wiki Draft

Peterson Seedling is an apple cultivar from Waconia, Minnesota. N. E. Hansen recorded it in his 1902 bulletin A Study of Northwestern Apples. It originated with F. J. Peterson, and first fruited in 1901. [S1]

The fruit is large, roundish, truncated, and slightly tapering. The skin is shaded and striped with rich bright red. It becomes nearly solid red on the sunny side and is lighter on the shaded side. The flesh is white, stained red near the skin, juicy, pleasant subacid, and rated good. [S1]

The bulletin gives the season as late fall. It also notes many minute white dots, a large, wide, deep cavity with slight russeting, a long stem, an abrupt wavy basin, and few flattened seeds. [S1]

The available source gives no direct parentage, tree habit, disease notes, or zone rating. Hardiness can only be inferred from its inclusion in a northwestern apple survey with Upper Midwestern and cold-region context, not from a direct survival or zone statement. [S1]
